Tip Calculator
Split bills fairly — tip percentage, per-person totals.
About this tool
Calculate tip and split the bill among friends. Choose your tip percentage, round the total or not, and see exactly what each person owes.
How it works
Tip = bill × tip% ÷ 100. Total = bill + tip. Per person = total ÷ diners. An optional rounding mode snaps the per-person amount to a whole dollar while showing the small difference.
How to use Tip Calculator
- 1Enter the bill amount.
- 2Choose a tip percentage, or enter a custom one.
- 3Set how many people are splitting the bill.
- 4Review the tip, total, and what each person pays.
Examples
A 84 bill with 18% tip split 4 ways: each pays 24.78.
A 60 bill with a 20% tip is 72 in total.
Rounding a 67.50 total to the nearest dollar gives 68.00.
Pro tips
- For large groups, a 15–20% tip is standard in the US; 10% in many other countries.
- If the bill already includes a service charge, skip the tip to avoid double-paying.
- Use rounding for cash payments — the table shows both rounded and exact totals.
